- Foxdale had its beginnings in 1985 as the dream of a small group of the
State College Friends Meeting. It is modeled after other Quaker-directed communities in
southeast Pennsylvania. After much planning and guidance from these communities, Foxdale's
construction was begun in 1987 and completed in 1992. It is governed by a 15-member corporate
board of directors, a majority of whose members must be Quaker.
- Foxdale shares the Quaker conviction that human life is sacred and that all persons
regardless of age, health, economic status, race, color, religious creed, or other circumstances
are to be treated with loving respect.
