Just a short walk down the street from Foxdale is Downtown State College, where you can find tree-lined streets, interesting shops and plenty of restaurants.
Lots of cultural and entertainment opportunities abound in State College. The nearby Center for the Performing Arts brings in some of the finest in professional performing arts to Central Pennsylvania. The Center presents some of the best in music, dance, theatre, and family programming. The season includes everything from classical music and opera, to jazz; Broadway musicals to drama; traditional ballet to modern dance; children's stories to all-age family shows; and rising newcomers to established popular entertainers.
You can enjoy professional theatre in the heart of downtown at Pennsylvania Centre Stage. During the summer, you can enjoy a play at State College’s Community Theatre, Boal Barn.
Take in a professional chamber orchestra at Pennsylvania Centre Orchestra. Or enjoy an evening with the Nittany Valley Symphony, a non-profit symphonic orchestra.
The nearby State Theatre provides a venue for theatre, dance, music, and film.
State College and nearby Boalsburg feature a variety of museums, including history, art, anthropology, agriculture and military.
The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, held in downtown State College and on campus in July, draws tens of thousands of visitors. In the fall, Penn State football attracts large crowds. Throughout the year, there are dramatic offerings, lectures, and concerts on campus.
Pennsylvania has many beautiful state parks, several near State College. In addition to these, the Centre Region, which includes State College and the five surrounding townships, has its own excellent park system. One municipal park is only two blocks from Foxdale.
