Her experience spans roles in sustainable agriculture\, forestry\, solar design\, and education\, as well as serving in various community-based environmental and wellness initiatives. Jackie brings a holistic and deeply informed perspective to the conversation.Join us for an evening of reflection and discussion as we explore climate racism—how systemic racism intersects with the climate crisis. We’ll begin with guiding questions and short video clips to help define the topic\, followed by a group discussion. The program will also include a global perspective on who produces and who suffers from carbon emissions\, a visual map of this imbalance\, and powerful footage from affected communities around the world and in Pennsylvania. The show and reception are free and open to the public. Pat Dolan\, holds a BA in Art and Education\, and has spent her career creating and teaching in a wide range of mediums\, including watercolor\, pastel\, colored pencil\, and pen & ink. Her time in New Jersey inspired her to return to art quilting\, while her years back in rural Pennsylvania have shaped her reputation as a realistic watercolorist. She is especially recognized for her portraits of birds and cats\, as well as still lifes\, flowers\, and rural landscapes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVisiting hours are from 8:00am – 5:00pm weekdays and from noon until 4:00pm on weekends\, January 7 – March 23\, 2025. DESCRIPTION:Dr. Brian King is Professor and Head of the Department of Geography at Penn State. His research\, teaching\, and outreach focus on livelihoods\, conservation and development\, environmental change\, and human health. He holds affiliations across the university\, including with the Population Research Institute\, the Earth and Environmental Systems Institute\, the School of International Affairs\, and the Consortium to Combat Substance Abuse.Dr. King is also an honorary research associate with the African Climate and Development Initiative at the University of Cape Town and was selected as a National Academy of Sciences Kavli Fellow in 2017. In addition\, he serves as the Nature and Society editor for The Annals of the American Association of Geographers.In this talk\, Dr. King will examine how climate change is reshaping human health\, from heat exposure and food insecurity to extreme weather events\, with attention to uneven impacts and community resilience.This program is free and open to the public.

She received her watercolor training at the Gerlesborg Art School in Sweden\, studying through weeklong courses over several years. The school is located north of Gothenburg along Sweden’s stunning west coast.Lena is an art instructor at the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania. After a long and distinguished career in Sweden as a Registered Nurse\, Certified Nurse Midwife\, and Department Head\, she has embraced watercolor painting as an important and fulfilling part of her life. She especially enjoys painting en plein air\, which brings her both joy and fresh inspiration.“It’s a challenge to paint on location and that’s what I like\,” Lena says.
