SUMMARY:Climate Has Always Changed... Which Makes Human Carbon Dioxide More Worrisome.
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Richard Alley will present his groundbreaking research on ice cores and Earth’s climate history\, offering insight into how scientists understand past climate change and what that history tells us about the present. By studying records preserved deep within glaciers\, Dr. Alley explains that while climate has always changed naturally\, those changes have had profound impacts on life on Earth. Comparing past shifts in carbon dioxide to today’s conditions shows that current climate change is overwhelmingly driven by human activity\, and scientific models accurately reflect the scale of the challenge we face.Dr. Alley\, a Penn State professor since 1988\, is an internationally recognized climate scientist whose honors include election to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences\, The Royal Society\, and receipt of the U.S. National Medal of Science. He has contributed to the Nobel Peace Prize–winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change\, hosted the PBS series Earth: The Operators’ Manual\, and authored award‑winning books that make climate science accessible to the public. This program is free and open to the public.

SUMMARY:The Photography of Art Heim
DESCRIPTION:Foxdale Village welcomes Art Heim to the second floor art gallery. The show and reception are free and open to the public. Drawing from a lifetime of exploration and service\, Art Heim’s work reflects a profound commitment to both people and place. A post‑retirement journey with the U.S. Peace Corps became the spark for a dedicated photographic practice\, offering the opportunity to capture the beauty\, resilience\, and spirit of African communities alongside the raw wildness of their surroundings. Photography emerged as both an artistic language and a means of sharing these powerful experiences with others. \n\n\n\nSince returning from Africa in 2010\, Heim has traveled widely\, working in Africa\, Nepal\, Southeast Asia\, Europe\, Central America\, and across North America to document the natural\, human\, and built environments of our world. With a strong graphic sensibility\, the work highlights the uniqueness of landscapes\, wildlife\, and cultures\, inviting viewers to pause\, reflect\, and find joy in the richness of our shared planet. All photographs are carefully printed\, matted\, and framed by the artist using archival materials and professional techniques\, ensuring each piece is both visually striking and enduring. This exhibition at Foxdale Village offers a chance to experience these journeys through thoughtfully crafted images meant to be enjoyed and remembered. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVisiting hours are from 8:00am – 5:00pm weekdays and from noon until 4:00pm on weekends\, May 12 – July 5\, 2026. The opening reception will be held on Sunday\, May 17 from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. \n\n\n\nFor further information please call the reception desk at 814-238-3322.
