Are You in Control? Individual and Social Determinants of Healthy Brain Aging

December 9, 2025 @ 9:30 am 11:00 am

Join us for the Center for Healthy Aging’s upcoming lecture, “Are You in Control? Individual and Social Determinants of Healthy Brain Aging,” presented by Dr. Martin Sliwinski, Director of the Center for Healthy Aging. This engaging talk will explore how much of your brain health is within your control, examining the ways lifestyle choices, social connections, and community environments shape brain aging and Alzheimer’s risk. Dr. Sliwinski will introduce the concept of “cognability”, the brain-friendliness of our surroundings—and guide us in understanding how brain-friendly our own neighborhoods may be. The lecture will also clarify common misconceptions about brain health equity and how these misunderstandings impact public policy and research funding, ultimately threatening vital studies that help Americans remain healthier, independent, and in charge of their future.

Refreshments served at 9:30 am and lecture begins at 10:00 am.
